About Ponytail Guide

Ponytail Guide is maintained by the Ponytail Guide editorial team. We publish independent explanations of the open-source Ponytail coding skill, its installation paths, its configuration, and the evidence behind code-reduction claims.

Our relationship to the project

We are not the Ponytail author and do not maintain the upstream plugin. We are not affiliated with Ponytail, Anthropic, OpenAI, Cursor, GitHub, or Cloudflare. Product names identify the tools being discussed; they do not imply endorsement.

The official project is DietrichGebert/ponytail on GitHub, and its website is ponytail.dev. Source code, official releases, licensing, and product issue reports belong there. Our purpose is to help readers navigate the project and understand the differences between host environments.

How we check and explain information

Installation facts are tied to an identifiable upstream version or commit. Our initial reference is Ponytail 5.3.2 at commit 09c434ab73ca43761c5d8b0c5d341926c2fba710. We prefer direct links to source files and host documentation, and explain when an operation changes user configuration, project configuration, or shared state.

We distinguish source-supported instructions from a completed local installation test. We also distinguish the author's benchmarks from independent measurements. A quoted upstream result stays attributed to its experiment, including model, task set, and limitations. We do not turn missing data into zero, or create demonstrations that resemble measured results without the supporting artifacts.

Our explanatory task examples are teaching material. They are not represented as case studies from real users. We aim to preserve security, accessibility, compatibility, and necessary behavior when discussing code simplification.

Updates and corrections

The checked date on a guide identifies our editorial review date; it is not a guarantee that the upstream has not changed since. When commands or platform capabilities change, the relevant source and guide need a new review. A fixed source link remains useful for understanding the version a page describes.

We welcome corrections with a page URL, the disputed statement, and a primary source or safe reproduction. Contact [email protected]. We do not promise a response time, installation support service, or a particular outcome from an upstream report.
